OWH Challenge #178

It's a great weekend when I can spend 2 days making cards or scapping!  OperationWriteHome has a sketch challenge:

Here's my card:

I was able to get 20 cards like this done - with different PP, ribbon and placement.

SEM June challenge

I haven't scrapped a layout for awhile - been working on cards.  Here is a layout I did for the June challenge at Scrapping Everyday Miracles.  We had to scrap about Love Never Fails - a couple that has inspired.  The scrap twist was that we can use only cardstock - no patterned paper.  Now that's a challenge.

These couples are inspirational.  My mom and her husband (okay, 3rd, but it was finally true love), my Aunt Ada and Uncle Dave, and my Aunt Jo and Uncle Doyle.  These are my mom's sisters and their husbands.  They had all taken a trip and met in Las Vegas (my Mom lived in LA, Ada in CA and Jo in IN).

All these couples are in love and prove that through thick and thin, love is a choice and can win out; you just have to work at it.  For me, this a picture of second and third chances...blended families...many moves...sickness and health...rich and poor...good times and bad...overcoming obstacles.

The blue and brown cardstock are stamped with white ink and the flags are stamped with green distress ink.  I inked the edges of the background paper too. The journaling card is printed but I'm counting it as an embellishment!

Head over to Scrapping Everyday Miracles blog and see some of the other great layouts created with just cardstock!  Thanks for stopping by, Susan

SEM Challenge

I finally decided to join the Scrapping Everyday Miracles challenge!  Go here for the sketches - either a card or a layout.  And here is my card:
The scrap twist was to use a homemade flower.  I crocheted the flower I used.

I had a friend see a card on facebook that she wanted (my sister-in-law made it).  When she found out it was sold, she said I should make her one.  Here is the one my SIL made (she's a Stampin Up Demonstrator if you need to order anything):

And here's the one I made:
Then she tells me it's not a b-day card!  So I had to cut it down and remove the banner.  I think mine turned out cute.  Dina's is a lot cuter though!  Love her cloud embossing folder.

Oh, I thought you might get a kick at the banner when I first put it together:
Um, yes, it's backwards...maybe I figured most people are counting their birthdays backwards.  Or maybe I just didn't think it through!  Now it lays on my desk waiting for a real b-day card to be attached to.

Hope to get some more cards done today.  Have a great weekend.  Thanks for stopping, Susan

Love Card

I'm so glad I finally cleaned my scrap room - it makes it easier to get in it and do something creative!

Here is a card that I CASED from ScrapAli

Simple but sweet.  I wanted to use a new border punch.  I think Scrap Ali's is cuter with the wider border so I'll keep it in my CAS file so I can go back and make it again (but different)!

Thanks for stopping by.  Open up your heart and see where your creativity can change a life.  Susan

Fishy Hi

I saw this card on Operation Write Home's blog (Kim N was the original author) a while ago and knew I wanted to try it.  It is really cute but it sure takes a lot of work.  Each piece being cut/shaped by hand and then attached.  It took me about 2 hours to make 6 of these.  As cute as they are, I don't think I'll be doing them anytime again soon.

Have a great week.  Susan

OWH Challenge #177

I haven't been doing the challenges but decided that I needed to get my creativity on and get busy.  This is the sketch from Operation Write Home.  I really like mixing patterned papers and using embossing folders to give plain cardstock from visual interest.

Here's the sketch:

Here's my take:

June cards

I am finding so many pretty cards on blogs and hops and pinterest and in catalogs.  So many cards, so little time to copy them!

Enjoy these cards I worked on this weekend.

These first two cards were inspired by Terri. Go visit her website for some really pretty cards.

Here is a card inspired by Deb Mills which I saw on Split Coast Stampers.
I did some fun things here. On the butterflies I used different colors of embossing powder. I really like how they came out.  On the cardstock under the butterflies, I brushed on powder and then spritz with Glimmer Mist.  At first, I thought, hmmmm not so pretty. but after putting them together...Love it!

Hope your weekend was crafty or at least relaxing.  Thanks for stopping by, Susan

June 1st & 2nd

I need to start cleaning as I create...I'd get in my room more often!

Here are some cards I worked on this weekend.

I love using scraps and this card was inspired by Bunny Scrap.

This card was inspired from this blog but I forgot the bow so I used flowers!  She also inspired the next card.  I really like the kraft on kraft.

These last two cards were inspired by the new Stampin Up catalog.

Have a great week...Susan
