Merry Christmas

I haven't been scrapping lately - crocheting instead.  I had lots of gifts to make.

Here are two cards I made today.  One is for cash and the other is for gift cards.

I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a crafty new year!  Susan

Christmas Cards

My niece asked me to make Christmas cards for her work to send out.  I thought...hmmmmmm, awful short notice but it's only 25...I can do it.  It took me longer to decide what design I wanted to do than to actually put them together.

I started with a Kraft base and added the white snowflake embossed layer (misted) and then added the small green square with plain white square.  The ribbon and mittens came next.  I did add a little glitter detail on the mittens.  Inside I put the greeting printed on white paper.  I think they are so cute.  I hope she likes them.

I think I'm ready for Christmas.  Decorations are up and I think all the gifts are purchased.  I didn't have to get too many this year since I had already bought my son a kayak earlier.  I do have to get them wrapped (not the kayak!) and I have a box I need to send to my sister.  I better get a move on!

Crochet

I've been working on crochet projects. I have 4 different ones going right now. I just finished a hat and scarf for a little girl's birthday. I'm nervous about them fitting. I'm terrible at sizing.

I used this doily in my "staging" and decided it needed to be showcased too. I really need to work on more of these.

Here is the card I made for a good friend of my son. I can't believe these boys are old enough to get married.

Here is the happy couple

Christmas in October

I've started my Christmas shopping. I've got a few things stashed away.  I even got my Christmas cards almost done. I've got to put the inside sentiment in and address the envelopes.

Oh, how I miss my computer.

Have a great rest of the weekend. Thanks for stopping by, Susan

Computer Crash :(

My laptop crashed...well, maybe drowned is more accurate. I was carrying it upstairs with a load of other things including a large cup of water.  The water sloshed over and got inside my laptop.  The circuits fried.  The good news is that all the data was saved and is now safely stored on my work computer - which I will back up again - and on a thumb drive.

Had to reload an old laptop (feels like a dinosaur after my little lightweight Toshiba) with my SCAL program and Cricut Design Studio.  I think this is all I'll use this computer for since I have my iPad.

Here are the pages I worked on before the crash but didn't get posted.  Oh, and a card too.

These pages are from my sisters' week in Virginia at my sister's house on the river.  It was so fun and relaxing.  A week of nothing planned except a spa day at home, watching Downton Abbey series, a tea party, and kayaking.  I love spending time with my sisters.

The cards are for OperationWriteHome.org.  I have Scrapping Saturday this week and I'll be working on page kits.  Saw a tutorial on Curious.com (videos on all kinds of stuff) and I want to try to organize my paper in kits so crops are so much easier.  Getting my paper together takes me FOREVER.

It's late so I'm heading to bed.  Hopefully my Cricut will connect with this computer and run with my SCAL. Otherwise I'm in trouble.  I don't do cartridges (only have 4).  Makes you appreciate your computer.  So glad I kept it backed up!

San Fran #4

Death by chocolate...poor Brutus.  This is my sister's Brutus the Buckeye and she takes him on trips and gets pictures of him.  He has traveled more than me!  The sundaes at Ghirardelli were incredible.

San Fran #3

San Francisco is a great town.

Alcatraz Island was a very interesting trip.  The prisoners could hear the people partying in the city. That had to be even harder for them.

San Francisco was on my bucket list and I'm so glad I got to go ... and with my sisters.  They are so fun to be with.

San Fran #1

My sister was in San Francisco for a conference and she invited me and my sister to join her.  We had a fun time touring the city while my oldest sister had to work.  I'm posting my layouts today and over the next few days.

The Trolley museum was really neat.  It was amazing to see the workings of the trolley system.

SEM August Challenge

The challenge at Scrapping Everyday Miracles for August is to scrap something that you or a loved one has accomplished.  My son David entered a contest online about he and his Dad fishing.  He won first prize of $1,000 in gift cards for Cabellas.  He really enjoyed shopping for a new fishing pole and reel.  He bought his Dad and me something too - such a generous guy.

The scrap lift was to include metal on the page.  The brads are metal and so is the fishing hook.

OWH #181

I got all my cards for the SEM Birthday celebration done and I wanted to work on the OWH Challenge.  Lots of parts.  I try to make 8 cards when I'm working on ones to go to OWH.  That meant cuting, gluing and assembling 48 pieces.  My fingers are still a little sticky!

Here's the sketch:
Here's my take:

The challenge is to make a card with a rainbow of colors.
Don't forget to visit the blog so you go hop to all the great blogs.  Susan

SEM Card Challenge #4

Got another challenge done...but had a scare (just a little one).  I'm putting something away and out of the corner of my eye, I see a large spider on my desk.  I was getting ready to freak out...
until I realized it was the cellophane from the stamp I was putting away...see it there peaking out from beneath the pop dots.

Here is the card I made for the challenge #4 - create a Christmas or Thanksgiving card using a sketch:
I did 4 more but ran the vertical strip through the Xyron wrong:

The reds don't match at all, but Santa is cute!

ODBD Challenge on OWH

Hello!
I got to spend most of Saturday in my scrap room but I didn't get much done!  I found a card on pinterest I wanted to copy and I chose the butterfly that had a lot of parts to separate.  And I did 12 of them (okay, started out as 15 but I mangled some of the poor butterflies).
I am trying to use my cricut more but I need to figure out what settings work best with what paper so I'm getting cleaner cuts.  I know there is probably a blog out there that has this info.  If you know of one, please share in a comment!

I also worked on samples of wedding invitations for my son and his fiance.  I'm struggling because of all my border/corner punches, not one works.  I did come up with one using the 8 punch.  I told her that if she didn't like them, it wouldn't hurt my feelings. I want her to be happy with the end result and not thinking, rats...I have to use this!

I also did a card for the Our Daily Bread Designs July challenge for Operation Write Home.  We had to use stitching on the card.  I did several of these but my sewing machine was not cooperating so I covered the stitching up on most of the cards.  I think it needs a tune-up.
Here is one with the stitching covered up
I got this layout from PrettyPaperCards blog.

I'm off today with the family to West Virginia for my husband's mother's family reunion.  We drive 2 hours down and 2 hours back to spend 2 hours there!  I'd rather spend those 6 hours in my room creating but family connections are in important.

The Lord is dealing with my heart.  I've been doing Beth Moore's devotion - Jesus, The One and Only every morning, as well of Hello Mornings study through John.  Both are showing me that I need to get involved with people.  I need to show them love - His love.  I've not done a good job of that.  And when I look inside myself and ask why, it comes down to being selfish.  Ouch.  I'm selfish with my time.  God has blessed me with so much.  It is way past time I started sharing with others.

Thanks for stopping by and I trust you will have a restful Sunday - and a crafty one.  Remember, your creativity can change a life...which could change the world!  Susan
