Memorial Day 2013

Today we remember our fallen military - remembering the sacrifice serving our country.  Freedom isn't free.

For our current heroes who are serving all over the world, I've been working on cards for them to send home to their loved ones.  These are for Operation Write Home.  If you haven't checked them out, please do so.  It is a great organization.

These first two are for OWH.

These two are for two friends' kids who are graduating this year:

OperationWriteHome Bloghop

If you haven't seen it, OperationWriteHome is having a blog hop.  There are almost 150 bloggers involved.  I've gotten through about 1/3 today.  I had to stop to get creative. I'll try to finish up tomorrow.

Lot of pretty cards.  Here's a copy of copies I made:

This first card is inspired by Stacey's Creative Corner.  I've found a lot of great cards on her site.

This second card was inspired by Annette.  She did it in a square but since OWH likes A2 cards, mine looks a little different, but I like it.

Get hopping...you'll love it.

Yesterday was my Mom's birthday. She would have been 80.  Tomorrow is the anniversary of her death. She's been gone for 5 years.  So today sits between the bookends of her life.  I miss her.

Thanks for stopping by.  I'm off to visit with some friends.  Susan

WSD - Another challenge

My sister so rudely scheduled a family gathering today so I haven't gotten as much done as I wanted.  Oh well, I do love my family and I had a great time.  It's so important to connect and we've been through a lot lately so it was good.

I came home and got another challenge done.  This one from Sandy Allnock...we were to use an old OWH tutorial and make it a romance card.  I used the Ribbon Brad Trick.  You use a brad to hold the ribbon and poke it through the top layer so the prongs lay between that layer and the base.

Here is my card that I "stole" from Penny.  Hers is so much prettier.

WSD - Another challenge

This card is for a challenge from Our Daily Bread Design to make a Missing You card.

I copied a card from Lime Doodle Design

Thanks for stopping by.  I have to go make a cake for a party tonight.  I hope I have enough time to let it cool before icing it.  :D  Susan

World Scrapbooking Day

... and I'm making cards!  But I'm using scraps...so that counts.

Here are a few.  I'm late getting started because it took me 2 hours to clean and rearrange my room.  It was a mess.  Two months of opening the door, tossing stuff in, and shutting the door makes for an ugly mess!

I rearranged the room a little because every time I swirled my chair, I knocked off one of my paper bins.  And I didn't want to have to reorganize all those papers again!

I'll do a new post for each set if they go with a challenge.

This first one is for the OperationWriteHome challenge by Handmade by Paula - use a sketch to make a kids card.

Enjoy your day and let your creativity bring joy to someone.  Susan

Cards

It's been a tough year so far.  My husband had surgery to repair vertabrae in his neck in November and went back to work in March.  Three weeks back, he had a minor heart attack.  He's doing great - in fact, he's exercising and make good food choices.  He assures me this is a lifestyle change because he doesn't want to have another heart attack.

My SIL Dianna passed away after a short fight with cancer.  It is very hard to have someone your own age pass away and to know my brother and nieces will be missing her greatly.  Thankfully she is in heaven!

Last night I found out my great nephew passed away.  He was only 2.5 years old.  Pray for his family: Mom Keshia, Dad Chris, Brother CJ.  My niece also had another baby 2 weeks ago.  The are devastated.

Another niece called and asked if she could pick up a few cards from me.  Birthday and anniversary cards.  Gave me a good excuse to get into my scrap room which is a mess.  I haven't unpacked from last month's crop and my room needs cleaned.  In fact, it will have to be rearranged because my chair keeps knocking over my blue-yellow paper supply!

I love, love, love the punch on the middle card.

Hope you enjoy NATIONAL SCRAPBOOKING DAY tomorrow.  I plan to get the scraproom rearranged and everything back in its place.  I hope my family cooperates and lets me!

Thanks for stopping by.  Keep your heart open and share your creativity - and your love, Susan
