Finally Titled my pages

Here are the last of my pages from a few weeks ago.  I had set them aside to put titles on them and then forgot :D

SEM May Challenge

The challenge for May at Scrapping Everyday Miracles is to use the sketch and the twist is to add a piece of wood.  Hmmm, that stumped me at first.  I could only think of a pencil - how could I work that in?  Maybe a golf layout with one of those little score pencils.

I decided today to do the sketch (forgetting about the wood).  Then I re-read the post and thought, rats...gotta find a wood embellie.  Well I did.  The patriotic heart and star are wood.  Whew...just made it for the May challenge!

Scrapping Everyday Miracles

You should check out this blog.  There is great inspiration there.  They are celebrating their one-year birthday - go check out the details:

Memorial Day

It is Memorial Day - a day to remember those who have died defending our country.  May God bless their families.

I've spent today working on cards for Operation Write Home so our heroes who are deployed around the world can keep in touch with their loved ones.

This first card was inspired by the card at Rockwell Designs Blog.

This is probably my favorite from today.  It is so much prettier in person.  It was inspired by the card at OWH blog hop.
This card was fun - using different patterns together - which I never would have done with inspiration from Pinterest (sorry, I don't have the actual location of it).

Church Crop #3

Here's the last of the pages I actually finished.  I still have several more that need titles and bling added!

Church Crop #2

Here are a few more pages from Saturday's crop.

We had a great time in Gettysburg watching the reenactments.  I know that having 3 layouts is odd but I'm sure I have some one page layouts that I can pair up with the odd numbered layout :D

Church Crop

Here are some layouts from Saturday's crop at church.

These pictures are from our trip to Chicago.  I miss taking trips with friends.  As my son got older we quit going on so many trips because of school, sports, and everything else kids are involved in!

Specialty Cards

I'm very happy with these two cards.  A friend's son got married on 5-19 (a day after my 27th Anniversary) and my nephew graduates at the end of this month.

Thank you 2

I needed a second thank you card and loved this pattern from Me My Stamps & I.  I just hope the glitter in the middle of the flower dries before I need to mail it out :D

Thank you 1

I needed a couple of thank you cards and seeing the OWH challenge was the perfect pattern to use!

I know it's a little busy but I didn't like the cardstock I used so I had to cover it at the top and I found this scrap.  But I like it ... looks like a party :D

Mom - thanks

Happy Mother's Day.  I hope you had a pleasant day today.  I did :)

There's a challenge on Scrapping Everyday Miracles to create a page inspired by our mom - and the twist (there's always one!) is to use a page from a book.

My mom inspired me to create.  She may not have sat down and taught me to craft but I saw her devote time to it and knew it was important to do those things that I enjoy.

The top left picture is one of my favorites - senior picture, I think.  The top right is one my favorites because it captures my mom's playful side.  She loved having her picture taken - you should see her hamming it up in earlier photos and videos!  I included my wedding picture because Mom was there when we asked her to be.  She lived in Louisiana and most her kids lived in Ohio - but she made that trip (usually driving) when she could if there was something we invited her to.  The bottom right picture is one that I recently discovered.  I love the look on her face as she looks at her children (5 of the 7, I'm the one at the right bottom corner.

I didn't always feel loved by my parents but I know they did.  As an adult I can look back and see it in so many ways - in so many things said.  I've lost both my parents (Dad passed 17 years ago and Mom 4 years ago).  I miss my Mom a lot.  Which seems strange to me because we weren't close in the traditional sense ... but I miss her being a phone call away, visiting her and seeing what craft project she had for us, listening to snippets from her past (even though they were rare).

Okay, enough of that...it's Mother's Day.  My son got me a rose and a funny card (which is just like him).  Yesterday I got to spend time with my family and my husband's family.  It's been a good weekend.
